New book published by CIFOR: “Analyzing REDD+: Challenges and choices”
This book follows two earlier REDD+ volumes, ‘Moving Ahead with REDD: Issues, Options and Implications’ (2008) and ‘Realising REDD+: National Strategy and Policy Options’ (2009).
The book is mainly based on the results of a research project (the Global Comparative Study on REDD+) developed by CIFOR and partners, and provides an analysis of actual REDD+ design and implementation.
To this end, it considers different REDD+ experiences (actions designed to reduce emissions from forest degradation and deforestation and increase forest carbon stocks, mainly in developing countries) at different levels (national, sub-national and local), and identifies the challenges involved in designing and implementing successful REDD+ policies and projects.
The book covers a wide range of topics related to REDD+, including finance, land tenure issues, benefit sharing, reference levels and monitoring, application of emission factors, and REDD+ safeguards.
